It is official, Sandra Sanderson has been promoted to the role of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Empire Company, parent of brands such as Sobeys, Farm Boy, and FreshCo. In the new role she will be responsible for all marketing and communication efforts for the brands in both Ontario and Quebec. Sandra will report directly to Michael Medline, CEO of Empire Company and be part of the management team.
Prior to the promotion Sandra was the Senior Vice President of Marketing since she first joined in November 2018. Before that, Sandra was Senior Vice President of Marketing at White House Black Market; Chief Marketing and Quality Officer at Walmart Canada.
The move is part of a larger initiative by Empire Company called 'Project Altitude.'
What does this mean for Empire Company?
Sandra has close to 20 years of retail experience that include a number of strategic project including the revamp of their loyalty program and acquisition and subsequent integration of Farm Boy.
Project Altitude is a company wide initiative where the grocery retailer aims to be the "best retailer in Canada," and the entire senior management team has been restructured. In total 6 executives will be taking on new roles from a newly created role of Chief Technology and Analytics Officer to Chief Operating Officer.
