The team behind Ziplocal.com, a Toronto-based local search directory has been busy reinventing itself over the last few months, a round of funding, addition of a community manager, and they have now relaunched the site with some major enhancments to offer to Canadians looking “to access their business communities. These enhancements will allow for a much faster, intuitive and more community focused search experience,” according to company President and CEO Elaine Kunda.ZipLocal.com Enhancements Include:Online Consumer Community - Logged in users or ‘ZipPeople’ have a voice in ZipLocal’s online community by contributing real world reviews of local businesses. Each posted review adds to a ZipPerson’s ZipScore. Similar to eBay’s seller scoring system, reviewers gain credibility within the community through multiple postings. Reviewers with the highest ZipScores will have their reviews ZipFeatured on the site. All ZipPeople reviews are searchable and appear when a Zip reviewed business is displayed in search results.Enhanced Business Review Content - ZipLocal has teamed with multiple third party content providers across Canada to provide hyper-local review content. Relevant business and service reviews from Sweetspot.ca, Eye Weekly, HomeStars and Fresh Daily will appear in ZipLocal searches, greatly adding to users’ search experience and confidence in local businesses. Alliances with additional content providers will be ongoing.Proximity/Neighbourhood Search - Ziplocal’s Proximity search allows users to quickly find ‘what’s good in your hood.’ Retail outlets, restaurants and services can be searched outwards from any address in a wide range from one kilometer to two hundred kilometers. This allows users to search anything in their own backyard and beyond to find exactly what they are looking for.
