Yahoo! Canada and Universal Music Canada are teaming up to find Canada’s next top band and they want your help. www.upyourmusic.ca was launched last week and has and already has over 500 videos uploaded from more than 300 artists across the country and over 140,000 video streams.

For the last 6+ years the Idol brand has been doing this similar thing on televisions across the world, but are we now ready to take this type of entertainment online? With a reach of 71% of the Canadian online population on a monthly basis Yahoo! Canada just might have the power to capture the attention of “would be stars” and the online fans who want to support and vote a winner. A nice prize valued at $35,000 also makes a pretty good incentive. The full package includes: $10,000, 30 hours of studio time at Metal Works recording studio, music gear, and a chance to win a recording deal with Universal Music Canada. The top three winners will be announced on May 1, 2007
