Which Canadian Wireless Provider Will Win The Kindle First?

kindleThe news came out last week that the new Bell and TELUS’ news wireless network is going to be ready ahead of schedule and should go live in November. This brings a domino effect of additional changes to the Canadian effect industry as that was the missing piece that both Bell and TELUS needed to be able to carry additional phones which required xx such as the Apple iPhone. Both Bell and TELUS also did confirm they would be carrying the Apple iPhone which ends Rogers monopoly as the only Canadian carrier to offer that phone.

Now let’s jump to the other big news, Amazon’s Kindle, the new eBook reader that has North America all a buzz is now available to over 100 countries around the world except Canada. Why? Amazon now has a choice as to which Canadian wireless provider will carry their prized possession, Bell, Roger or TELUS. Timing is everything in this case as Christmas is quickly approaching and that opens the door for holiday shopping and more revenues for Amazon and which ever carrier they partner with.

Chances are that the Kindle will end up on the Rogers network in the short term as they already have their network up and running, where Bell and TELUS will have to go through an intensive testing to ensure any bugs that come with a new wireless network are all worked out. For now Canadians looking to use the Kindle must use a US credit card and shipping address to purchase the device and pay roaming US roaming chargers to Rogers who uses AT & T.
