The world’s largest independent video game publisher, and a company founded in Canada, Electronic Arts is about to get some stiff competition as
rivals Blizzard (owned by French media group Vivendi) is said to make a $2 billion investment to merge deal with Activsion who is contributing $1 billion into the deal that will make the combined company “the world’s most profitable games business” and a total worth $18.8 billion. Forget Second Life for a minute, nine million people around the world pay a monthly subscription to play World of Warcraft, which was created by Blizzard. In 2008 the Online Gaming industry has also been predicted as one of the segments that has finally hit a point of maturity and consumers will finally be given some real choices and we’ll start to see adoption hit new levels.
