The count down begins, the last few weeks of 2007, where the xxxx did the year go??? One thing that has been surprising is the lack of Predictions for 2008, usually by this time there’s been so much hot air spread around the world from those who feel they have that magic crystal ball to predict
what will be hot in the following year. If the amount of holiday parties being hosted here in Toronto is any indication, then 2008 will be another great year and we’ll continue to see many different markets grow, well maybe except the mortgage market. My week started off with the Toronto Tech Talk which I hosted as Chair of Toronto Tech Week, I also made it to the IAB Canada’s 10 Year Anniversary party, and also made it to the Toronto Ad Club’s Annual Holiday Schmooze which drew in well over 500 attendees and Organic Toronto also held a reception to kick off the holiday season, can’t wait to see what is in store for this week. I also ran into Sunir Shar who’s just a little pumped about what exciting things Freshbooks has in store for 2008.
It wasn’t a good week to be Mark Zuckerberg, the Founder of Facebook who is used to being praised by users and media was torn a new one by those same two groups as Facebook tried to implement Beacon which is a new tool they’d use to monitor the actions of the users, of course this has potential “Big Brother” implications and raises a major red flag with the community as to how this type of data will be used. Wait, it can’t be all that bad, the company did manage to pick up another $60 million in investment from Asian billionaire Li Ka-shing
It looks like Google wants to jump into the wireless provider game, they announced on Friday that they will apply to bid for wireless spectrum in a January Federal Communications Commission auction, on one hand more competition is good, but just how much bigger does Google want to become?

Canadian software manufacturer Intuit has acquired Homestead, which is an online service that allows users to quickly and easily create a website.
