Google went shopping yet again, this time picking up a security and compliance company called Postini for$625 million in cash as the search giant continues to make stride into the enterprise market. It also now puts them in more head to head completion with Microsoft and shows the IT side of business that Google’s application are secure for enterprise usage.
Are page views still the way to measure of the power of a website? Nielsen/NetRatings has announced they are abandoned page views as their method for the length of time visitors spend on sites. This of course will result in a shift of the top online properties and could result in an increase in demand for content such as video and audio as online engagement becomes more important. It will also result in analtics companies offering updated versions of their tool sets to help publishers provide results for advertisers, analysts and investors. Competitor comScore Media Metrix has also the move to different measurement standards.
