Considering that just a few short weeks ago close to $7 Billion was spent on acquisitions this past week was pretty slow in comparison. Olive Canada Network who’s been growing at a very fast rate and doubled in a year took some time to throw a little party with their closest, 300 or so friends from the advertising industry last week. The theme for the event was “Prom 2.0″, General Manager Simon Jennings was decked out in a very nice baby blue tuxedo that could have made him a proud member of the 80’s “Brat Pack.”
The annual Search Engine Strategies comes to Toronto on June 12 & 13, they have a few sessions dedicated to social media, which is interesting to see at a conference that has always been solely focused on search engine marketing, but goes to show the maturing of social media and increased adoption by businesses. Andrew Goodman (Page Zero Media) takes the helm as conference chair and has tapped Seth Godin to keynote on Wednesday morning. Martin Byrne, YSM Canada National Director, Yahoo! Canada who spoke at our “As the World Searches” breakfast seminar in February this year will also be speaking. A few other familiar faces include Farhan Thawar, Product Manager for Live Search, Microsoft Canada , Helen M. Overland, Senior SEM Specialist, Non-Linear Creations and Tamera Kremer, Founder, Wildfire Strategic Marketing. I’ll be on hand to cover the conference so be sure to look for the post-conference coverage.
