Al Gore hit a hot button for many people around the world or did he open the door for advertising around a social cause? In the Unites States we’ve seen many of the presidential candidates talking about their promise to help change the environment if they are elected the next President of the United States. The latest promise to help the environment comes from Virgin Mobile Canada, Roots Canada and MuchMusic and their “Flick Off” campaign. It is a fully integrated campaign that leverages radio, print, mobile messaging, and a Facebook group has also been created to help spread the word about the cause.

Joost, which signed a deal with CHUM Television in March has signed three month contracts with a group of 31 brand advertisers including Procter & Gamble, Coca Cola, Nike, General Motors, and Visa. Many are predicting that Joost will change the way that we consume television, and considering what the founders have been able to accomplish with Skye they definitely have a strong shot at it.

Hunter Madsen hit the Third Tuesday stage last week and shared with some thoughts on the world of social media, including a small peek on how Yahoo! Canada is leveraging social media tools for their customers, Scott Mac Donald has a event wrap up.
