Canadian wireless customers are free, number portability has finally hit the Canadian streets and you now have a choice to stay or leave your wireless carrier. Virgin Mobile is jumping for joy and has launched some campaigns to turn you into a virgin and the latest new comer is looking to get you Amp’d. Will you stay or will you go? How big of a carrot will it take to get you to jump wireless providers?

While many wondered whether the $1.6B purchase of YouTube by Google would have any repercussion last week’s law-suit by Viacom for over $1B in damages might put a dent in Google’s pocketbook. Viacom is accusing YouTube of displaying over 150,000 “unauthorized” video from their various networkings including Comedy Central, VH1 and Nickelodeon.
Speaking of YouTube, Blogtv.ca hums along Toronto streets as they look to be the place where you share and view Canadian user generated videos. Claude Galipeau, SVP of Digital Media with Alliance Atlantis wrote a comment on some of the features of the new service provides. The question on my mind is how much support will Alliance Atlantis put behind this new venture, it will take a strong marketing campaign to re-programs consumers to shift to using their service from other popular platforms. Of course the other smart move would be to partner with content producers who have a strong following.

Guelph based Geosign who recently recently received $160 million in private equity funding from American Capital, has added Brandon Nussey as Chief Financial Officer. He’ll be responsible for overseeing the organization’s overall financial policies and direction. Brandon previously spent 7 years at Descartes Systems Group, a publicly traded technology company in Canada and the U.S.
Canoe announced last week the addition of Erin McDougald as Account Manager where she’ll once again work in conjunction with Cathy Fernandes. Prior to joining Canoe, Erin was an Account Manager with Marketing Magazine.
Oakville based Shoplogix, which is a developer of real-time performance management solutions, has hired Gary Davies has joined the company as Vice President of Sales. Davis brins over 24 years of sales and sales management experience.
