Travelzoo Canada hits the half a million subscribers mark

Travelzoo Canadian, an online publisher of travel deals announced earlier this week that the site has reached the 500,000 subscriber mark.

As part of the announcement the company has also released some data from a recent survey of its members

- They are frequent travelers: 48% have travelled three or more times in the past year and 43% expect their leisure travel to increase in the next 12 months.
- They plan to travel internationally: 87% of Canadian subscribers have passports, compared to 50% of the general Canadian population, and an astounding 96% are planning on travelling internationally within the next 12 months. When asked what destinations they plan to visit in the next 12 months, 31% plan to travel to Europe, 29% said their decision will be based on the travel deal, 28% plan to visit the Caribbean or Mexico and 19% plan to travel to Florida.
- Half of Travelzoo’s Canadian subscribers are aged between 45 to 64 years of age, 62% are married and two-thirds are female.
- Travelzoo’s Canadian subscribers are well educated and have discretionary income: 70% have a college degree or greater. 50% have a household income of C$75,000 or greater and 30% have an annual household income of over C$100,000.
- Their decisions are influenced by what deals they have seen on Travelzoo: 60% of subscribers that purchased an offer they saw on Travelzoo were not planning to go on a trip but found the offer was too good to pass up.
