Over the last several months there has been a battle over what’s the right dollar amount for Quebecor to purchase the remaining 42.2% of Nurun, a Montreal-based Interactive agency which is worth around $4.60 per share. An Independent Committee of the Board of Nurun put the breaks on a proposal saying it was not at fair market value. Now it seems that a new player has moved to the table, WPP has been making some noise in the marketplace as they are looking to acquire Nurun to add to their growing advertising network.
Back in May 2007, the London, England based network purchased 24/7 Media, and recently under their Wunderman acquired Blast Radius for an undisclosed amount. According to an article in the Globe and Mail, the offer from WPP is valued at $5.25 per share but can only go so far as Quebecor still have a significant amount of shares in Nurun and in the end as said in the movie The Matrix, “There can only be one.”
