Who Will Be The First To Launch A Canadian Mobile Advertising Network?

With names such as Tribal Fusion, Olive Media, BV! Media, Gorilla Nation there are certainly a number of online advertising networks for advertisers to use to reach their targeted audiences. Last week Google once opened up Pandora’s box when they sunk $750 million US-based AdMob, a mobile advertising network. Interesting to note Apple had also put in a big to acquire AdMob a few weeks early but didn’t manage to put the right deal together. Yesterday news broke that another US-based mobile advertising network Millennial Media, received their third round of funding for $16 million. We see in the next few months what the future of Millennial Media will be but chances are it will be acquired before the end of Q2 2010, most likely by Microsoft or Apple.

One thing that I can’t help but wonder though is who will create the first mobile advertising network in Canada? Olive Media who recently launched a video advertising network is probably in the best position to offer brands this type of solution either through an acquisition or creating their own. There is also Casale Media who has been pretty quiet in Canada over the last few years has said they are going to start to focus more attention on the Canadian market.

With Canada about to get a few new wireless providers the opportunity to help connect brands with consumers is about to get pretty hot!

Tribal Fusion Hires Carolyn Cramer as Director of Sales, Canada

Digital marketing solution provider Tribal Fusion has hired Carolyn Cramer as the company’s Director of Sales for Canada, and the first Canadian hire for the US-based advertising network. As part of her role Carolyn will manage national sales efforts, new business development, and strategy for continued growth in the Canadian marketplace. Previously Carolyn was with Yahoo! Canada as the National Sales Manager

We’ve continued to see growth in North America, and Canada is an important part of our market,” said Toby Gabriner, President of Tribal Fusion.“We are committed to working with the most talented staff, providing high quality client service, and expanding our sales and technical capabilities. Carolyn’s addition allows us to do this and it strengthens our leadership team for the future.”

Carolyn has worked in the online advertising industry for a number of years with such other organizations as AOL Canada and CanWest Media Sales, where she was responsible for Specialty Television and Online Media. She also has agency experience from her time as a Strategic Planner at Leo Burnett Company, where she was responsible for brand insights and creative briefings. Carolyn is on the board of IAB Canada, as well as the VP and chairperson of the IAB Publisher Council.

Great timing on Carolyn and it will be interesting to see another advertising network take a stronger stance in the Canadian advertising industry.
