RIM's First Smart Move In Months, Appoints New CMO & COO

They are down, but definitely not out, this morning Research In Motion (RIM) announced they have appointed a new Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Operating Officer.   RIM’s previous CMO, Keith Pardy left the company back in April of 2011, and Co-Founder and  then Co-CEO Jim Balsille took over the role.  Frank Boulben, who has held a number of senior marketing and sales roles at a number of wireless carriers including Vodafone and Orange takes the helm as the new CMO.  Frank has been Executive VP of strategy, marketing and sales at LightSquared.

Kristian Tear, Former Executive Vice-President of Sony Mobile, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer.  Tear previously held a variety of operational leadership positions with LM Ericsson in Europe, Asia and Latin America. At RIM, Kristian will oversee all operational functions for handhelds and services, including research and development, products, global sales, manufacturing and supply chain.
