Thanks to a tip from Monique over at Raincoast Books which is a Vancouver based publisher and distributer. They have jumped into the social media game through blogs and podcasts and now the launch of a mobile video contest called “What’s Your Worst-Case Scenario?” The contest which runs until January 31 allows fans of the Worst-Case Scenario series, including daredevils, accident prone, professional and amateur videographers and animators to submit their tips for a chance to win a $500 shopping spree in participating books stores across Canada. What’s a Worst Case Scenario? How to get gum out of your hair, how to prevent your cat from clawing the furniture, how to get a thorn out of your puppy’s paw, and how to win a hockey fight.

Monique Trottier, Internet Marketing Manager for Raincoast also shared the campaign has been a phenomenal success with sales of over 2 million copies, “the video contest is a chance for fans of the series to tell us what they think is funny and cool about the books and the scenarios. It’s about having fun and experimenting with mobile phones, online video and social networking.”

Contest and submission details can be found on the Raincoast Books site at www.raincoast.com/worstcase/index.html. Their blog and podcast can also be accessed directly from their site. Pocket Cine is also a partner on the campaign, which is a community site for mobile videos, the emerging “third screen.”
