Today marks the 100 year anniversary of the first print edition of the Financial Post has been recognized as one of Canada’s leading business and financial news sources. As part of the celebration, David Asper, Chairman of the National Post help to lead the marketing opening of the Toronto Stock Exchange.
So the new era for the Financial Post begins with launch of the FP Trading Desk blog, www.fptradingdesk.com. The blog promises to be an extension of their daily column which will also allow for readers to post comments and submit tips. The National Post also has a new blog, Full Comment, www.fullcomment.com where they are also looking to leverage user generated content by encouraging readers to debate issues and share opinions. Perhaps some of this is the result of Mark Evans “gentle nudging” and suggestions that the embrace the changing business communications landscape and leverage the power that blogs can bring to a company. Overall the blog looks pretty good and they have incorporate some of the basic things that help to make a blog a success such as social bookmarking tools like Digg and del.icio.us however the separation between the different types of content could be organized in a better fashion.
