Recession, what recession??Β  With a strong leadership team in place including Simon Jennings (President), Kristie Painting (Director of olive_mediaSales), Nathalie Boucher ( Director of Sales, Montreal), Phil Connell (Director, Operations and Corporate Strategy), Theresa Smith (Director of Audience), Leanne Gibson (Director, Product Development) Olive Media has had an impressive 2009.Β  This Toronto-based online advertising network has seen expansion into the online video arena, secured a number of new clients, and now news of 25 new positions which include new hires and promotions in the areas of sales, traffic, analytics, marketing and product development for its Toronto and Montreal offices.

I had a chance to catch up with Simon Jennings to find out a little bit more about the growth that Olive Media has been experiencing?

DF – What is the total head count with Olive Media now?
SJ – We’re currently over 60 plus employees.

DF – Some digital media companies are still laying off but you are going in the opposite direction. What are you preparing for?
SJ – Growth that we’re already seeing which is tied to the partial recovery of the economy. We are seeing evidence of the online advertising economy recovering; that’s what we need to get the job done.

DF – Are you still hiring, if so what type of roles?
SJ – Yes. In pretty much all areas of our operation, sales, analytics, operations, We are always looking to add based on opportunity, if the best rep in the world made themselves available we would take a look at them and find a place for them with Olive Media.

DF – What do you look for when you hire?
SJ – I look for savvy, not online savvy, I look for smart, honest and competitive people.
