For the last few weeks we’ve heard about how Facekook is the dominate social network for Canadians despite bans from the Ontario government , but they have some competition crossing the boarder and taking one extra step. MySpace has Canadian versions of the popular social networking site at site http://www.ca.myspace.com and have also launched a French version at http://www.cf.myspace.com which also is the fifteenth localized launch for MySpace and others including United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Latin America.

Jane Tattersall has been hired as Director of Marketing where she will oversee various marketing and content initiatives. Prior to MySpace Canada, Jane was Marketing Manager at EMI Music Canada.

As part of the launch MySpace Canada plans several events and activities including:

- Debut of Quebec’s Patrick Watson latest music video “Luscious Life” on MySpace
- MySpace debuted the exclusive premiere of City and Colour’s live video for “Knives”
- Recently honored Canadian non-profit Skate4Cancer with the MySpace Impact Award in Health and Safety for March 2007 - the organization hosts popular skating events which raise money for cancer research
- Premiered the new album from platinum artist Leslie Feist globally on MySpace
- Launched MySpace Comedy with a major sponsorship for the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal last summer
- Partnership with the Calgary Comedy Festival
- Partnership with North by Northeast (NXNE) Music and Film festival, one of Canada’s most renowned festivals. This year NXNE will feature a MySpace Canada showcase
