The Canadian music industry is a tough business, just as Canadian Hip Hop artists and actor Maesro Fresh Wes who recently celebrated the 20 year anniversary of “Let Your Backbone Slide” (admit it, you are bobbing your head right now). With a new CEO now in place below the border, MySpace Canada has partnered with Corus Entertainment to launch a new monthly contest to discover new Canadian talent. “Found on MySpace” gives Canadian artists a chance to upload their music to the social network where other MySpace users can vote on their favourite artists.
According to Sue McGill, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Business Development, MySpace Canada, “MySpace is the worldwide destination for new music and undiscovered artists MySpace is ubiquitous and a standard for online musicians and Found on MySpace is a great opportunity for independent, unsigned musical talent to be discovered and further develop their music and careers.”
Fives artists with the most number of votes will go on and have their content submitted to ExploreMusic.com, a nationally syndicated radio show and web portal as part of the “Found on MySpace” contest. Artists will have the opportunity to be showcased on the portal as well as in front of music industry expert Alan Cross.
