Montreal’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) cluster has launched a new Web site, www.technomontreal.com. The initiative gives industry companies access to a local directory of organizations which can support them. The Greater Montreal Information and Communications Technology Cluster consists of some 2,700 companies and provides close to 110,000 jobs and contributes substantially to the region’s prosperity, with exports totalling over four billion dollars in 2004.
The goal of the new portal is simple, to help ICT firms, independent consultants, digital arts organizations and digital artists, in addition to those who support the cluster such as associations, government resources from all three levels, universities and colleges, and research and transfer centres.
Montreal is also known for having a very vibrant gaming community with companies such as Electronic Arts (EA) holding offices there, and Alliance numeriQC being the local association for the gaming community.
Michel Guay, President of the cluster and President and Chief Executive Officer of Wavesat Technologies was quoted as saying “We now have a vehicle with which to promote the cluster and its attributes, both locally and internationally. This new site is an exceptional showcase for the sector’s stakeholders who can obtain substantial visibility by regularly posting information about their company, activities and
successes.”
