Mobile messaging provider OZ acquires Thumbspeed

Montreal based OZ, provider of consumer mobile messaging solutions acquired Thumbspeed Inc. from Hands-On Mobile Inc., for an undisclosed amount. Thumbspeed was founded in 2004, Thumbspeed in Bellevue Washington, and has a research and development facility in Mumbai, India. Thumbspeed develops and publishes messaging, photo sharing and personalization applications for mobile phones and smart devices. Together with OZ’s messaging solutions - IM, Email and Social Networking built for consumers mobile phones, will allow for the company to complete its vision give consumers better communications solutions for the their mobile phones.
Skuli Mogensen, CEO and Founder of OZ, “As consumers expect and demand more from their mobile phone, together, we will fulfill this demand with easy to use mobile clients, and offer an unique integrated messaging experience that includes next generation SMS, IM, E-mail and Social Networking with rich-media and personalization capabilities.”

Come’on, everybody knows that the only reason they did that was to close their Canadian development center for cost reduction (OZ has a HUGE burn-rate).
Where do you find an alternative? in India.
Why starting from scratch when you can buy a group of developers there that are already familiar with this business?
Especially when the price for this groups is sooooo low (Handson looked to get rid of this group…).
