Enter Microsoft Office Live Small Business, which launched in Canada last week. The free software is-an all-in-one web building platform that simplifies the process of marketing online for small businesses.

“It’s an under served area of the market,” Microsoft’s Jason Brommet tells me. “Being able to provide a set of simple, easy to use software tools to small businesses is key to their operations.” Probably to Microsoft’s, for that matter.

The company has succeeded here, though. The Small Business suite contains website templates, custom domain names and email, and data measurement tools.

As part of Life Small Business’ premium package, business owners can create a variety of e-marketing tactics, including newsletters. They can also build an e-commerce site to sell their products or link to existing sales on eBay.

Business owners who have taken the software for a test run say it’s as easy to use as MS Word. The e-marketing tools come in customizable templates, which makes the process easy.

Looks like Microsoft scored one before Apple did.
