Jim Shenkman gets a new Strategy

Founded in 1986, Jim Shenkman’s Brunico Communications Ltd. based in Toronto has owned and operated such publications as Playback, Strategy Mag and KidScreen has decided to call it quits according to their digital newsletter Media in Canada. The assets of the company that Jim founded have been sold to a private investment group which is led by Russell Goldstein. Jim who has served as and served as President/ CEO is reported to stay on board in a full time capacity as Chairman and a member of the Senior Management team.In recent months there has also been a changes in management with competitive publication Marketing Magazine, owned by Rogers, which has resulted in a “shake up” with the publisher.It is no secret that social media has had a strong impact on “traditional” media, whether it be reading and contributing content on blogs or listening and watching a podcast or online video.  Sites such as the Globe and Mail, NYTimes.com are all trying to figure out what to do next to keep their share of readership numbers as a new breed of media publications starts to become more powerful, TechCrunch and GigaOm to name a few.  Perhaps this is a sign of the times that the pendulum is moving away from traditional news publications to blogs as a source for daily news and content?Advertisement:  Social Media Breakfast Seminar – April 25
