According to The Canadian Press, has named Research In Motion‘s (RIM) Jim Balsillie as business newsmaker of the year. Jim of course is Co-Founder of RIM, maker of the Blackberry smartphone and one of the world’s most popular smartphones. He captured 44 of 122 votes cast in the business newsmaker survey, nearly double the votes logged for the Canadian consumer, at second place with 24, and Bank of Canadagovernor Mark Carney, with 20.
Over 2009, Jim has had both struggles and success which has put him over the top as a newsmaker for the year such as his attempts to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes hockey franchise.
