Internet On The Go, Rogers Now Offers 3G Netbooks

ROGERS WIRELESS - 3.5G Embedded NetbooksFor those tired of waiting on modems, or searching for wireless hotspots in the middle of the crowded cities the wait is finally over.

Rogers is now offering 3.5 G netbook service for customers. Starting with the HP Mini 110, this is the first-of-its-kind offer for Canadians. Selling for just under $300 with a two-year contract – service plans start at $25, the ever-disputed system access fee of 6.95 tacked on top, which includes usage of 500 MB – the system offers download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.

“Whether it’s for business or personal use, Canadians want a fast connection to the Internet whenever and wherever they happen to be,” says Jeff Cates, Vice President of Consumer Marketing at HP Canada. “Through this first-of-its-kind offering in Canada, HP wants to continue to deliver the technology our customers need to meet the needs of their increasingly mobile lifestyles.”

Available at Future Shop and Best Buy, the netbook comes ready with up to a gig of memory and a 160 GB hard drive – not bad for something that weighs in at less than three lbs. The screen size is just over 10 inches, and at one inch thick it offers performance and portability.

While Rogers reaches more than 75 per cent of the population of Canada, one might want to check out coverage areas before jumping onto the new netbook bandwagon: www.rogers.com/coverage.
