According to a post on their blog Google Voice users can now make calls into Canada for free. Maybe this is a sign that they are taking our population of 33,212,696 (source) seriously and we’ll get Google Voice in Canada.
Google Voice, Calls To Canada Now Free, But When Does It Come To Canada?

Once again, Canadians are second class citizens within the telecomm/ media sectors. To your point, when will 33 million+ people become a worthwhile market for these businesses?
Damn, wish they authorize Canada already
Why they are treating Canadians as 2nd class citizens. We are part of North America. Whenever there is something new in the market it is only available in US not in Canada…. but Why?
I’m totally for them adding stuff to Canada.
But I live in the USA.
But anyway back to my point…
They add stuff to USA first because we have like 10x the people you have in Canada as it makes more sense.
Then Canada.
Better than not having it at all though.
Mexico is part of North America too, ya know.
@Cameron
With your theory they should be giving it to Canada first and the US second. Why would you “Test” a product on a market 10x the size.
The truth is Google is afraid of the Canadian user.
As a American who lives, travels, works and visits Canada regularly I am very disappointed to not have access to a Canadian number and am working hard with “other” companies to ensure Google gets paid back for it’s arrogant California attitude!!
It’s probably a matter of copyright and laws. It will come to Canada for sure. Just wait a little bit. It takes time to submit the project to CRTC, for exemple, and them to accreditate Google to launch it.
Remember Satellite Radio, iPhones, etc..
