Wired.com snaps up Reddit

Social news site Reddit was purchased by Wired (owned by Condé Nast) earlier today accrodign to TechCrunch.  Not bad for a 4 emolpyee company that’s been around for less then 2 years.  Just goes to show you that Jason Fried aka 37 Signals is definately right when he talks about making products that are simple.

I wonder if this is a play to take on Jason Calacanis and his blog empire over at AOL.  Will Condé Nast be able to integrate the technoloy into the other online properties it owns such as Vogue or Glamour?  Would a female readership join in the discussions and take the time to use this type of service or is it just for the ‘geeks’?
