Podcast/ Videoblogging Conference - Coming to Toronto, Canada
Sites like YouTube, Rocketboom continue to have success. Within Canada we’ve also seen great success with videoblogs such as commandN and podcasts such as Inside PR. Everyday more people and companies are getting into it the game on a daily basis but there are still a number of questions that producers and those looking to leverage this new content medium will need to have answered. There have been some great events such as Syndicate, Vloggercon, and most recently PodCamp Boston, but nothing substantial has been held in Canada to date. With that said I’ve started to organize a conference on podcasting & videobloging which will be held in Toronto, Canada in February ‘07. There are many things can be covered such as:
- How to make your own podcast (or videocast)?
- How can my company use them to brand my product or service?
- How can I make money from my content?
- Who can help my company create a videoblog for our product or service?
Would love to get your ideas for subjects, speakers and format for the conference. If anyone happens to be around on September 28th October 5th and up for some afterwork networking feel free to join for the Shoeless Schmooze , maybe we’ll do some on the spot podcasts or videocasts. If you happen to know anyone who’s either doing or looking to podcast/ videoblog feel free to share this post with them, or any corporation that’s looking to use this medium as part of their marketing efforts. Any input would be appreciated to help make this conference a slam dunk for everyone attending. And now back to your regularly scheduled program… Register today for Word Up! - Canada’s Word of Mouth Marketing Conference - November 14th - Toronto, Canada

Hi- We’ve already started floating a PodCamp/Podcasters Across Borders partnership. Are you connected with that gang? You might get in touch with Mark Blevis from Canadian Podcast Lounge, as we’re already working on gathering funds and building an event.
Just a thought.

Hi Dave!
This sounds like a great conference. Will you be setting up a site for it?
You may not have heard about it… Podcasters Across Borders (www.podcastersacrossborders.com) was the first large scale conference of Podcasters in Canada. Eighty people from Canada and the US came together for a keynote address by CBC’s Shelagh Rogers, a social gathering, a full day of presentations and an incredible concert by Dala and Uncle Seth. The next edition of that conference is taking place in Kingston on June 22-24, 2007.
Keep me posted,
Mark

Terry and I would be happy to help out in any way you’d like. I’m sure the members of CAPOW (Communications and Advertising Podcasters of the World) would also lend their assistance.

I second my co-host’s offer of assistance. Sorry I can’t join you on the 28th but I’m heading south to Podcast Expo in California. Great initiative Dave. Now I have something to look forward to in the dark and dreary days of February…
