Online publications force writers to adjust or retire

Don Dodge says “I don’t read newspapers or magazines anymore, at least not printed versions. I stopped subscribing 8 or 9 years ago“. As well he shares some insights about the shift from traditional print publications to online. I think it is fair to say that the writers of these publications also have heard the message loud and clear. As a matter of fact, they’re securing their own job security income security by launching of their own blogs. Looking at the Canadian landscape a few who’ve made the move to launching their own personal blogs include Mathew Ingram, Mark Evans, even CBC’s Rick Mercer has gotten into the game, even if it is with a hosted solution, but I’m sure he has his reasons for that.

Since I’ve started reading blogs through a feed reader I more I don’t have as much need to subscribed to emails newsletters and I’m even getting content on my Blackberry.

Of course consuming content isn’t for everyone, but let’s face it, the next generation is already hear and manufacturers are pumping out mobile devices like water. The thirst screen is upon us and demand will only continue to grow.

Blackberry PearlSpeaking of which, is it Christmas yet, because Big Daddy wants a pearl. Blackberry Pearl, hook me up!
