Even as the web continues to grow on a daily basis one thing will always remain, users are concerned about their privacy. We’ve seen this with websites, with eCommerce and now with social media networks and tools. Recently the Canadian Federal Privacy Commissioner (CIPPIC) made an investigation regarding Facebook and user privacy concerns. The investigation was triggered by a complaint from Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic who apparently said that Facebook needs to better address privacy concerns and bring their standards up to Canadian privacy law.
Since that time Facebook and the CIPPIC have worked together to address the concerns of the one complaint and has dismissed the claims as well as resolve all other issues raided by the clinic. So it looks like the growing social network will continue to have a home in Canada for quite some time to come.
