Mia Wedgbury

President and Co-Founder, High Road Communications

Mia Wedgbury

A combination of entrepreneurial spirit and sound business sense led Mia Wedgbury to co-found High Road Communications in 1996, when she sensed an industry on the verge of an international boom. With the rise of the tech industry came a need for a different breed of PR agency, a firm that could keep up with the rapid pace of technology companies. High Road was Canada’s first public relations firm dedicated solely to technology. A decade later, it has become the largest technology agency in Canada, with a team of 75 professionals in four offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

As High Road’s President, Mia leads the firm with more than 18 years of public relations experience. She has directed global brand positioning programs, handled crisis communications, managed international product launches, and developed strategic public relations programs for emerging players and industry leaders.

Mia has worked with companies across the entire tech spectrum, from consumer software to hardware manufacturers to wireless companies. Over the course of her career, she has worked with Microsoft Canada, NEC Technologies, IBM, Canon, LG Electronics and Bell ExpressVU, among others. She also has strong experience in media training and executive profile building.

Prior to establishing High Road Communications, Mia was a senior executive at an international public relations firm where she led the national communications program for Microsoft Canada, managing the media launch of Windows 95, MSN and two media tours for Bill Gates.

Mia serves on the Board of the Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA) and is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators and the Canadian Public Relations Society. She earned an Honours BA in Political Science from Queen’s University, and a post-graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College.
