Apple, Research In Motion (RIM) and Microsoft all have app stores so why can’t I? Ok, I’m being a little sarcastic here but there is definitely a growing trend for companies to turn their offering into much more and launch application stores which allow for 3rd party companies to extend their own offering to the user community. I just got wind that Nokia is getting ready to launch their sometime in June. With last week’s announcement that the Palm Pre is making its way to Canada there will no doubt be an app store.

great article! As an industry player, I should let you know there are also dozens of carriers playing in this area as well as dozens of other 3rd parties aggregator sites (zdnet, handango, etc.) already in motion.
Still… I totally think FordeApps.com could beat them all… I say go for it!
