Eli SingerLooking across Canada for the last two years there has been a lot of talk about social media, but very few companies have been able to and Eli Singer wants to change all that. Toronto based Cundari officially announced the creation of Social POV, which is a new division headed up by Eli Singer as Managing Director. Social POV already has some clients under its belt including WWF, Royal Ontario Museum and CIBC Run for The Cure which they have been working with over the last few months. One of the differentiators that might give Social POV a leg up on the competition is their advisory board including Rocketboom’s Andrew Baron, Kevin Bracken and Lori Kufner (Newmindspace), Todd Defren (SHIFT Communications) and Brian Oberkirch.
Who’s behind this team?

  • - Andrew Baron - burst on the scene and helped to influence video news shows on the web with his daily spoof/news show Rocketboom.
  • - Kevin Bracken and Lori Kufner - with their down and out gorilla marketing events they have put fun back into rallying people around social a social cause.
  • - Todd Defren - coined the term “social media press release” which has not made PR practitioners around the re-evalate the press release model. It has also forced companies in the news wires business to add new tools such as RSS feeds and podcasts to allow for content to be distributed faster.
  •  - Brian Oberkirch - marketing and social media consultant
  • This is a very unique model for an agency to take and each of the advisory board members has done something unique with the social media world that can only bring more power to the work that Social POV will continue to produce.   To date public relations firms across Canada have been quicker to embrace social media, but today is a new day and a new player has entered the arena.
