Vancouver based VoIP (Voice over IP) and Video over IP SIP softphones provider CounterPath Solutions has announced its intentions to purchase NewHeights Software Corp. The deal is worth $5.5 million or 13,750,000 shares of common stock at $0.40 per share. With the acquisition, CounterPath is looking to leverage NewHeights’ enterprise softphone and IP application server products with their existing softphone based solutions. The 100 employee company will remain in Vancouver with their development office in Ottawa and Terry Matthews (of the Mitel fame) and Wesley Clover will become Chairman for CounterPath.
