City of Toronto Cleans Up With Zerofootprint

Al Gore may have started it with the “Inconvenient Truth”, but Toronto’s Mayor David Miller is taking yet another step to clean up Canada’s largest city in a new partnership with Zerofootprint. As part of the partnership, Zerofootprint Toronto (www.toronto.zerofootprint.net) has been created as a portal to allow is portal residents, businesses, neighbourhood and community groups to measure, track and reduce their carbon footprint.

“It is up to all of us to do our part to minimize the impact of our day-to-day activities,” the Mayor said. “Each of us can make a difference as we work together to make Toronto the greenest, most liveable city in North America.”

The site will also be used to encourage partnerships and competition amonghts the community in efforts to reducging greenhouse gases for in the city, a number of corporatation have already signed on to use the system including Air Canada,
Ecomedia Direct, First Capital Realty, SAS Canada, Toronto Hydro, Tridel, Unilever (Sunlight), Ameresco Canada, Enbridge, Habitat for Humanity, Marsh, the Ontario College of Art & Design, Toronto Green Communities and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority
