Certicom To Rim, “No So Fast, Stop The Wedding

Back in December there was a lot of discussion around the planned take over by RIM (Research In Motion) of Certicom, maker of encryption hardware and software products.  Well it look like the blissful marriage is on hold as Certicom has been granted a permanent injunction with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice of the hostile take-over bid made on December 10, 2008.  According to the papers filed, RIM breached non-disclosure agreements by using confidential and proprietary information supplied by Certicom to RIM for its bid.

RIM can come back to the table again, but would have to start from scratch with a new deal which would be put in front of a special committee set up by Certicom.
