The Canadian New Media Awards (CNMA) has opened the doors again for nominations with 15 categories they have expanded this year with a new category, “EXCELLENCE IN THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA” (see details below). Early bird nominations ends February 16th at 5PM EST. The finalisits will be announced mid-April and the award show will take place on May 28th in downtown Toronto.

Also new this year is the official CNMA Blog which will be used to keep up to date on what’s going on leading up to the awards. This year the CNMA celebrate 7 years of providing Canadians a National platform to celebrate New Media excellence.

EXCELLENCE IN THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

This award is in recognition of excellence and leadership in the most quickly evolving sector of the communications sphere, social media. The winner(s) demonstrate the ability to generate a qualitative and quantitative measurement against the initial business or client objectives by either:

a) Creating or nurturing community growth through online tools, or

b) Leveraging the social media networks of an existing community to spread a message or meme.

Submissions can represent a corporation, a non profit organization, a citizen or a political realm.
