Bell Aliant and the Government of PEI has announced the completion of a major broadband infrastructure expansion to deliver high-speed Internet to virtually all areas of the Island by the end of the year. The project has a total value of$8.2 million and will give over 21,000 individuals and businesses across the Island access to broadband services.
In addition, Bell Aliant and the Government of PEI have also announced the launch of a Rural Broadband Fund (RBF). The RBF is a five-year strategic partnership to support innovation in information technology across PEI.
“Today I’m proud to announce that we’ll be able to offer high-speed Internet province-wide to our customers,” says Bruce Howatt, Vice-President, PEI, Bell Aliant. “Our employees from across the Island have worked very hard to reach this important milestone. We are equally thrilled to help stimulate technological innovation in PEI through the Rural Broadband Fund.”
The project is part of the Government of PEI’s ongoing commitment to rural development.
