Google Answers shut down their service late last year, which should pave the road for Yahoo! Answers to be the dominate player right? It
looks like Toronto based Chris Priest-Brown and Joe DeClara founders of Askipedia are looking to come into crowed field of “informational solutions for consumers.” Askipedia is taking a slightly different approach by offering a text based solution. Any Canadian with a cell phone can ask a question such as “Will Britney Spears get together with Justin?” to 27587 (ASKUS) and recieved personalized answered back within minutes, all for just $2.
According to Chris, 67% of Askipedia’s customers are repeat customers and their questions have a huge range of topics. Askipedia originally launched as a web based service very similar to Otavo which we reported about back in July of last year but seems to have taken a back seat since then. Will the need to have immediate answers offset the cost to get them, or will consumers be content with free web based services?
