He was loved by many, he was hated by a few but you can not take away the great legacy that Edward Samuel Rogers, Jr. created with Rogers Communications. “Ted” as he’s become to be known leaves us at the age of 75 and over the years with a strong vision and tenacity built a high quality communications company in Canada.
His first major business move was in 1960 when he used borrowed money to create the first FM station in Canada, CHFI-FM, some 15 years later her created what we now know today as Rogers Wireless. In 1991, Ted was named to the office of the order of Canada.
During this transition time and looking for a successor, Alan Horn, Chairman of Rogers Communications and acting CEO will take the helm. Possible replacements for Ted include Nadir Mohamed, President and Chief Operating Officer Communications Group Rogers Communications, and children Edward Rogers, President of Cable and Melinda Rogers Senior Vice President Strategy & Development.
