Torstar Digital in jumping into the location-based marketing space with the launch of their new  iPhone app called ShopCatch, designed to bring consumers sales and exclusive offerings from retailers and malls near each user.

“ShopCatch is poised to change the way Canadians find the best deals on hundreds of retail products and services,” said Candice Faktor, Vice President of Strategy and New Ventures at Torstar Digital. “We’re excited to offer a product that will bring the shopping experience to the next level, combining convenience and mobility with quality offers that are in real time, completely portable and don’t require clipping coupons.”

Consumers can redeem the deals that appear on the app and simply show the promotional code or coupon to redeem the deal.  One thing that separates ShopCatch from WagJag (acquired by Torstar Digital in 2010) is consumers do not have to wait for group buying to redeem the deals.  Tostar also announced plans to roll out the app across Canada and add additional merchants to their portfolio, as of launch time ShopCatch as partnered with  Visa, HMV, and Roger.
